Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for sending your children to Siena Catholic Academy. Siena is a community committed to growth. If you read our mission statement, you will see that our primary focus is on the growth of our students, but secondarily, we are interested in transforming the world. All of us, students, families, faculty, and staff, are part of a larger enterprise of personal growth and global transformation. We may operate in small spheres of influence or, like some of our graduates, become actors on an international stage, but we all have the potential to make this world a better place that more closely matches the Kingdom of God that Jesus evoked. The safe and nurturing environment that we create here at Siena allows students to explore their world with confidence and to develop the knowledge, skills, and values that make them effective actors in that world.
We are in the midst of dramatic change in our world and Siena is evolving to meet the challenges and embrace the benefits this change presents. We are developing our STEM subjects in ways that prepare our students to see the integration of these disciplines and to develop an approach to creative and collaborative problem-solving that is increasingly the hallmark of our most dynamic research institutions and businesses. We are integrating technology into our classrooms through our 1:1 Chromebook initiative and use of Google Apps for Education so that our students engage in their studies in ways that are compelling, informed, and productive. Meanwhile we emphasize a cautious approach to gathering and using information and technologies, acknowledging that technology is morally neutral, but human decision-making is not. All this is part of our collective effort to transform our school in ways that better serve our mission.
Our work to improve the school and our community will continue as we implement our strategic plan. These are dynamic times for Siena, times in which we continue our tradition of academic excellence and collective growth.
