Computer Technology

The purpose of the Computer Technology class is to teach students how to use computer technology to enhance their learning. The main emphases are on developing computer skills and applying those skills to all other subject areas.

In sixth grade we focus on ethical and safety concerns related to computer technology, the use of the Internet for research, and the practical use of Google Apps for Education for gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting research.

These foci are further developed in subsequent years as students strengthen their skills in various applications and forge new paths by encountering and mastering more advanced applications.

All students use Chromebook devices that rely on cloud-based computing.  Each incoming sixth grader is issued a Yoga 11e Chromebook that they will keep upon graduation.  We also have a computer lab and a mobile cart that feature Chromebooks for our seventh and eighth graders who are introduced to these devices and to Google Apps.

Our Director of Technology works closely with faculty to develop lesson plans that make full and efficient use of technology to supplement and enhance curriculum.
